We are officially in the homestretch of 2015 and while we loved all the contouring and bright blue eyeliner that ruled the beauty spotlight (and our personal makeup arsenals), we are ready for a change! To get our faces and makeup bags better prepared for the New Year, we consulted with some in-the-know makeup artists on the makeup looks that will be taking over our lives in 2016.

Bangin' Brows

Bold, striking brows have made quite the statement in recent years and it seems they won't be losing steam in 2016. "Again, this season, defined eyebrows will be huge," says Grace Lee, makeup artist for Maybelline New York. So, if you haven't learned how to properly fill in those brows, it's time to get with the program!

Glowing Skin

There's definitely a time and place for matte skin, but it appears the foundation forecast for 2016 leans more on the lighter and brighter side. "Glowing skin is back in, and blush is making a comeback," says Tim Quinn, celebrity makeup artist for Giorgio Armani. "Also, I love pairing freshly layered tones on the cheeks with soft eyes to balance the pastels in spring clothing." This means it's time to sharpen up your strobing skills to get that natural, illuminated complexion everyone will be rocking.

Grey and soft metallic hues will be all the rage next year, as we see eyes take a softer, sweeter turn. "Graphic eye makeup and liner will fall by the wayside (in 2016)," says Quinn. " Soft grey eye shadow palettes with unexpected pops of color will be huge."

And those pops of color will come in shades of red, says Amanda Rodriguez, artist in residence at Urban Decay. "Sunset pinks and corals, which are always popular in spring makeup, will be used unexpectedly on the eyes," she says. The artist suggests pairing a rosy-hued palette with a bright, candy-colored lip.

Bold lips are a staple no matter the season or year, and 2016 will have them shining like never before. "Perfectly outlined 'power lips' are not going anywhere next year and neither is the '90s influence," says Lee. "Whether they're dressed in a classic red, taupe, brown or matte wine shade, lips will make a huge statement on their own."
