Hint: Mile High City

I know you know where I am by now: Denver, Colorado....Rocky Mountain High. I hear John Denver singing in the background. Denver has to be one 0f my all-time favorite cities. I just love the clean air, the active downtown, the beauty and history of the area.

In writing this blog, it aroused my curiosity. How did Denver get it's name? Denver started as a mining town. It got its name from Kansas Governor, James Denver. Miners thought they would gain political favor by naming this area/town after the then Governor. No word on that.

How did Denver get its nickname, Mile High City. If you go to the west side of the state capitol (Denver is the state capitol of Colorado), the thirteenth step is exactly one mile high, 5,280 feet above sea level. Golfers like Denver and it's air because their golf balls travel 10% further. Be careful if you are drinking because the air can make you tipsy faster. I will like the dry climate of Denver which will mean great hair days. And in Colorado you have beautiful blue skies with 300 days of sunshine.

Denver is also known to be a dog friendly city. Being the animal lover that I am, I don't have to tell you how much I like this. I am known to adopt a stray or two. Good thing I am flying. It makes it harder for me to bring a little canine home, but not impossible.

You may be wondering what does this have to do with Mississippi weddings and Premier Bride. Why am I writing this blog? It has a lot to do with Premier Bride of Mississippi and Mississippi brides. I am in Denver for a conference to get new ideas and network with other magazine publishers. I like conferences like this because I always come home with new ideas for Premier Bride, brides and their weddings.
