Cool, Sexy Backless Wedding Dress Styling with Katie May

Oh my, do we have such a treat for you guys today.

We've been big fans of Katie May ever since we first clapped eyes on her stylish backless wedding dresses.

With curve-hugging lines and delicate lace details, these gowns don't hold back on sex appeal.

So our heart skipped a beat (or three) when we saw this stunning Katie May bridal inspiration shoot with Christina Morgan Photography and hair and make-up artist, Beauty by Melina.

And we think yours will do.

Captured in the iconic Topanga Canyon in LA, these gorgeous images don't just highlight some of the most divine gowns from the Katie May collection, but they also show how to let your dress do the talking with cool, chic, and inexpensive styling.

We love seeing new ideas for accessorising your wedding dress, so we'll pass you over to the fabulous Katie May to tell us a little more about it...

From The Designer

My goal for this shoot was to style the gowns so they looked effortless and cool. I tend to find that many brides over-style their bridal look, which can really take away from their beauty. I think we have all been to weddings where the bride walks down the aisle, and the first thing that pops into your head is "Holy hell! She really went for it.....and not in a good way." When we were creating the looks, we chose accessories that are accessible to brides that are relatively inexpensive and easy to source. That floral headpiece (God, I loved it!) was done in roses and ivy, which are available year-round, and are relatively lower-priced florals. I think we have all seen our fair share of floral crowns, so we wanted to do a spin on that by creating a floral headpiece that framed the face and cascaded down the shoulders. It was very Virgin Mary-ish, and perfectly complimented the Vienna gown. The adhesive pearls were an interesting way to decorate the bare back. They made a statement without being fussy, and did not detract from the simplicity of the Barcelona gown. This unfussy, yet refined look also carried over into the hair and makeup - our makeup artist Melina actually did our model's hair on the side of the road with no hot tools! ...so it really was as low maintenance as it could be. Every time we look at these images, we want to be that bride, and we want other people feel the same way.

Aren't those photographs just breathtaking? We already knew we'd love the dresses, but the hair, make-up and styling is all stunning too.

And as for the pearls down the back, I think every bride with a backless wedding dress is going to want to try that at home - genius!

Thanks so much to the team at Katie May, and of course, Christina Morgan Photography and Beauty by Melina for sharing this beautiful bridal shoot with us.
