The Latitude Wedding: Neil and Nadine Marry at Latitude Festival 2013 Part 2

via

Afternoon all…..

Yesterday we brought you Part 1 of Neil and Nadine’s epic wedding at Latitude Festival 2013 and their first dance which was featured in Independent Love Song.

Today it’s all about the partying, Latitude Festival itself, brightly coloured sheep and the most amazing cake I’ve ever seen! Yes……..it’s time for Part 2 peeps and it’s even better than Part 1. Hold on to your hats!

Over to Mrs Nadine Smith….

Colour, Energy and a Vintage Suitcase…

“Keeping in line with our Frida Kahlo theme of bright confident colours, we wanted the reception to be as colourful as possible and full of energy. Natalie from Jolly Good Weddings did a fabulous job of laying out the low set tables and filling them with colourful frames, flowers, bright lanterns and candles.

Our table names were based on a travelling theme, mainly places that meant a lot to Neil and I, and for our table plan we placed colourful card in a vintage suitcase.

Child’s Play and Animal Masks…

We wanted our wedding to be as much about our children as it was about us so a lot of thought went into entertaining and involving them and their friends. We had a kids activity area full of games, animal masks and goodie bags as well as face painting by The Parlour (which the adults loved just as much as the kids!) We also put together a Children’s Wedding Activity Pack which kept them all entertained for hours!

There were huge smiles all round and all the kids had a ball!

Frolicking in the festival….

The most exciting part for us (Festival Brides!) was seeing the wedding couple go out and work it in the festival atmosphere. They had their photos taken in front of the iconic Latitude sign and even in the pen with the coloured sheep. With so much amazing styling and decor in and around the festival it was an ideal set up for some quirky festival shots.

Food glorious Food…

When entering the competition one of the main things we wanted was to create a summer picnic for our wedding meal and having been to Latitude many times we knew a relaxed summer picnic full of tasty delights would work with the festival atmosphere. So with the help of my friends and family we put together the most amazing spread! Pork pies were big on the agenda, with a special mention to Guntons Grocers of Colchester for the wonderful pies! Two Magpies Bakery supplied the beautiful bread and there was mountains of cheese and chutney! The most impactful part of this picnic table though had to be our amazing cake by Choccywooccydoodah cake. It’s just a beautiful statue of loveliness!!

Nadine and Neil loved catering their own wedding so much they have now launched Fridas Kitchen. They have had a lot of experience with catering for film sets and events over the years and after doing their own wedding they are now hooked!! So if you like what you see then get in touch.

Stick it on…..

As part of winning the competition we had Stick it on for our evening reception who were brilliant. Everyone in the wedding party had suggested a playlist and they then took their turn on the decs and showed off their DJ skills! This was just such a fantastic idea to involve all our guests and everyone was on the dance floor!

Well spoken advice from our festival couple…

Take it easy and let some things go. You’ll never manage everything you want to, so pick your battles. Some things that we really focused on making and planning for the day got forgotten in the flow of things. (Now I can’t think why we worried about it so much, or why they seemed so important at the time.) Remember to have a good time and concentrate on enjoying your day, each other and your guests. No one there cares about all of the frippery as much as you do; they just came to see you get married. Pick your battles!

A Family affair full of festival fun!!

It was really important to us that our kids loved the day too and they just did! They looked amazing (they are all ten times cooler than us) and all had such a good time. Really that was the most important thing to us. To see them so happy and having such a good time was something we won’t forget. They were extremely proud and excited that we won this competition and the entire process has been such a thrilling and happy thing for them to be part of. We couldn’t be prouder of them!!

So are you feeling the love after this wedding!? We are!

We had the best time organising Neil and Nadine’s Wedding – from start to finish their ideas have been fantastic and it’s been great to have the opportunity to create an actual full blown festival wedding for awesome people.

You can see from the photos what a very special family they are and it was our pleasure to make them all officially ‘The Smiths.’

Congratulations guys!

We would also like to take this opportunity to thank Latitude Festival and all the amazing suppliers for making this families dreams come true!
