How to Host a DIY Spa Day for Your Girlfriends

Picture this: vanilla candles, soothing music, champagne, sweet treats and your ladies. Heavenly, right? Or bourbon-scented candles, Drake, tequila and pizza-because it's your SPArty and you can carb if you want to.

You literally don't have a care in the world and things like sugar, responsibilities and stress just don't exist. Which is why an at-home spa day with your girls is a stroke of genius. You can completely check out and indulge in the comfort privacy of your own (or your bestie's) home. Only they get to witness your pizza-scarfing skills.

So, the next time you plan a girls' night out, how about a spa day in, instead?

First & Foremost: Treats & Ambiance

The key to emulating a spa-like atmosphere is all in the details. Most importantly, make sure you've got a mix of snacks-as in good and bad. Sweets and substance.

Your table spread should include treats like cookies, granola bars, fruit, veggies, dark chocolate, champagne and cucumber water-if you're feelin' fancy. Maybe even the aforementioned pizza.

Also, make sure you set the mood. Don't confuse a spa day with a raucous girls' night in-they are not one in the same (unless Hotline Bling is stuck in your head). Play some cool mood music (nothing too sleepy), light your fave candles and dim the lights. To keep things organized, create spa stations around the room for your friends visit.

Station #1: Face & Body Scrubs

Face and body scrubs are often skipped in our day-today beauty routines, which is why now is the perfect time for you and your friends to indulge in a good ol' exfoliation party. You may want to set this station up in the tub, or an at-home pedi station, as things could get messy. All in the name of good fun-and smooth skin!

Station #2: Multi-Masking

You can't have a spa day without a facial and you can't have a facial without a mask. Since everyone's skin is different, we suggest stocking up on a variety of masks that will cater to different skin types: dry, oily, sensitive, etc. Or have your friends bring their go-to treatments over for a little multi-masking action! Nothing says relaxation like a soothing mask, comfy robe and cucumber slices on your eyes.

Product Recommendations: The Body Shop Himalayan Charcoal Purifying Glow Mask, L'Oréal Paris Pure-Clay Mask Detox + Brighten Treatment Mask, SkinCeuticals Phyto Corrective Masque

Station #3: Mani-Pedis

With all the technology and innovative nail products out there these days, it's easy to recreate that salon magic at home. Stock a table with everything you and your pals will need for a spa experience: pumice blocks, nail files, peppermint lotion, scrubs and, of course, nail polish. And if you really want to up the ante, pick up some at-home gel polishes and really give your friends the royal treatment!

Station #4: Hair Care

Last but not least, give your locks some love by throwing a hair mask or leave-in treatment into the mix. Just like skin types, hair too, has different needs-moisture, color-care, hydration, damage repair etc. And, if you don't have time to go hair mask shopping, go the DIY route and try a coconut oil mask instead.

Smooth skin, silky hair, and a fresh mani-pedi-can we have a DIY spa day with our girlfriends every weekend?
