'Oh, The Places You'll Go!' Ceremony Reading by Dr Seuss

'Oh, The Places You'll Go!' Ceremony Reading by Dr Seuss

This morning we shared Dannelle and Stephen's beautiful wedding on the blog. And we couldn't help but prick our ears up when Dannelle said her favourite moment of the day was when her son, Finn, read an excerpt from Dr. Seuss' 'Oh, the Places You'll Go' during their wedding ceremony.

There wasn't a dry eye in the house!

Dr Seuss is more popular than ever, and excerpts and quotes from his whimsical stories make sweet and unique ceremony readings for weddings, (especially when there's kids involved!)

So, inspired by Dannelle, Stephen and Finn, we figured we'd share the adorable 'Oh, the Places You'll Go' with you (along with some gorgeous Etsy prints from the story, to inspire your wedding signage too.)

It's quite long, (and you don't want to bore your guests!) so it's probably best to just choose an excerpt you find the most fitting or inspiring to you - but we think you'll agree, the whole thing is pretty great!

Oh, the Places You'll Go!

You have brains in your head.
It's opener thereExcept when you don't.
You will come to a place where the streets are not marked. And IF you go in, should you turn left or right...
You can get so confusedOh, the places you'll go! There is fun to be done!Except when they don't
Because, sometimes they won't. And will you succeed?KID, YOU'LL MOVE MOUNTAINS! So...
be your name Buxbaum or Bixby or Bray

You're off the Great Places!
Today is your day!
Your mountain is waiting.
So...get on your way!
Yes! You will, indeed!
(98 and 3/4 percent guaranteed.)
There are points to be scored. There are games to be won.
And the magical things you can do with that ball
will make you the winning-est winner of all.
Fame! You'll be as famous as famous can be,
with the whole wide world watching you win on TV.
that you'll start in to race
down long wiggled roads at a break-necking pace
and grind on for miles cross weirdish wild space,
headed, I fear, toward a most useless place.
The Waiting Place... or right-and-three-quarters? Or, maybe, not quite?
Or go around back and sneak in from behind?
Simple it's not, I'm afraid you will find,
for a mind-maker-upper to make up his mind.
Some windows are lighted. But mostly they're darked.
A place you could sprain both your elbow and chin!
Do you dare to stay out? Do you dare to go in?
How much can you lose? How much can you win? Because, sometimes, you won't.
in the wide open air. You have feet in your shoes.
You can steer yourself
any direction you choose.
You're on your own. And you know what you know.
And YOU are the guy who'll decide where to go.

Isn't it special! There are lots of other Dr Seuss stories to be inspired by for your wedding, Mutual Weirdness is another pretty apt one. Picking up an old story book to read from is also a nice touch!
