Lauren & James: The Search For The One.

Lauren & James: The Search For The One.

Hello everyone! Every time I come to write a post (number five now), I feel like I've only just written one! Again, time has flown by over the past few weeks since my last post...and a lot has happened, both wedding and otherwise. So, without further ado, let's get on with the update.

Firstly, James turned the big 3.0, so we went and lived it up in Las Vegas with some friends for a few days. If you haven't been to Vegas before, it is absolutely nuts, but in the best possible way! Everything about Vegas is crazy; the food, the nightlife, the people, the hotels, 24 hour gambling and drinking, and everything is just on such a big scale.

My present to James was a helicopter trip to the Grand Canyon where you land in the canyon and have a champagne picnic. All I can say about this is WOW...the Grand Canyon took my breath away, I can definitely see why it's one of the seven wonders of the world, so unbelievably gorgeous. On top of this, we had great weather and the icing on the cake was seeing Queen BRITNEY in concert at Planet Hollywood... needless to say we had a brilliant time and we did not want to come home. I would recommend it to anyone - unless you're the quiet, shy and retiring type!

In other news, we finally have Save The Dates...hooray!! Hopefully by the time this post goes out, the Save The Dates should be either with, or winging their way to, some of our guests. I'll be honest, when we first had them through I wasn't sure, the mint green ribbon was a bit too mint (as ridiculous as that sounds), but they represent want we want the wedding to be all about, so we went with them.

So, with help from our wedding spreadsheet (OMG GUESS WHAT I LIKE THE SPREADSHEET - DON'T TELL ANYONE), they have finally been sent out.

Also...drum roll please...I have found The One. It took me five shops in two cities, about forty dresses and lots of 'well I like this on that one, but this on that one' before I found it. I'm obviously keeping the dress and style a secret until the big day, but what I can say is it's definitely not what I thought I'd go for. All the advice I had about the dress was right - keep an open mind, try on as many dresses and styles as you can to make sure you know what suits you, and most crucially...you will know when you've found The One.

I have to admit I had got to the point where I was thinking I wasn't going to find what I wanted and I was getting 'a bit PJC' (Princess Joan Collins) about it all, but then, with the help of the lovely Jackie and Della at The Dressing Rooms in Halesowen, I put my chosen dress on and I just said 'this is it. I don't need to think about it, I don't need to sleep on it, measure me please'.

And, almost most importantly, I got the seal of approval from my Mum (this is a big deal, remember the curtains?!).

The next job on the list is bridesmaid's dresses. I think the colour of their dresses (and making sure they match me, obvs) is going to set the entire colour scheme for the wedding, so I'm hoping to get all of us together for a day in the next few weeks to get this done. I actually think I'm more excited about finding their dresses as I am about mine - probably because the pressure is now off (thank god) and I can just relax and have fun with it!

As you can imagine, with the Save The Dates and dress sorted, this is all starting to feel very real. It's terrifying, but in a great way!

Until next time.

Lauren xxx
