Chic & Elegant White Wedding at Botleys Mansion | Whimsical Wonderland Weddings

To end a week of gorgeous weddings, I have a classic timeless affair to share with you today.

Jennifer and Joseph married on the 27 September 2013 at Botleys Mansion, Surrey and decided to have an elegant and relaxed day with touches of sage green.

I so love the traditional feel to their day; with Jennifer looking chic in a lace gown by Saint Patrick and pretty veil while Joseph donned a morning suit. There were beautiful florals and simple yet classic details.

Thanks goes to the fabulous Cristina Rossi for sharing her photographs with us today.

THE PROPOSAL | Joe proposed to me at Kensington roof top gardens. He had secretly arranged for Cristina Rossi to photograph the proposal hidden away behind our table. Very Romantic and we have some wonderful pictures that captured the moment perfectly.

THE VISION | We were adamant on having an elegant and relaxed wedding, we didn't want too much fuss, but concentrate our efforts and budget on the things that mattered the most to us. We love a good party and therefore the venue, food, wine & entertainment were key for us.

I didn't want a particular colour theme running through the day, and so everything was quite neutral to begin with. This was okay until we went to get Joe's suite and I was asked what colour ties & colour scheme we would have and I replied I didn't know, the attendant said he had never had a bride come in here with no colour ideas! With some thought we decided on sage green for the grooms ties, and Joe would have paisley gold tie so these were our colours!

THE PLANNING PROCESS | It started with the venue really. We only looked at Botleys mansion and fell in love with it. Nothing else would do. Everything else took shape around our vision of an elegant day.

BUDGET | approx £20K

THE VENUE | Botleys Mansion in Chertsey

THE DRESS & ACCESSORIES | Saint Patrick, veil & head piece by the same.

FINDING THE DRESS | I knew I wanted something elegant and simple. I loved all the lace dresses that are around at the moment and so started my search. I didn't want to confuse myself by visiting too many stores so did a lot of looking online so I had an idea. However trying on wedding dresses is very different to searching online! They were all so beautiful, but in the end my beautiful Americana Saint Patrick dress jumped out at me! I loved the lace detail and beautiful belt added a touch of sparkle.

GROOM'S ATTIRE | Traditional morning suits although a mix up on the day with the colour of Joe's tie, but we didn't even notice the mistake until a month after!

THE READINGS & MUSIC | We chose poems that seemed to sum up our thoughts on love & marriage, and traditional classical music for the ceremony. This we thought was the only option for the room which we got married in. During the reception drinks however we choose our favourite Ibiza chill out tunes. Ibiza and it's party atmosphere is a favourite of ours.

BEAUTIFUL BRIDESMAIDS | My beautiful sister was my only bridesmaid, and I had 4 flowers girls: 2 neices from my side of the family & 2 neices from Joe's side. I wanted a beautiful elegant dress for my sister and chose sage green again. For the girls I decided that they should have pretty princess type dresses & these were my bargain purchase from eBay.

THE FLOWERS | My wonderful friend Sara Morris did our flowers. I wanted to add a touch of pink in the flowers and left the rest to her! We kept flowers to a minimum (for budget purposes) and decided on bouquets and button holes only.

YOUR PHOTOGRAPHER | This was the easiest decision: Cristina Rossi who was there to photograph (in hiding) Joe's proposal so she had to be there for the big day!

THE DETAILS & DÉCOR | We spent money on the items that meant the most to us. ,As Botleys Mansion doesn't need any decorations as it's rooms are simply stunning anyway, we decided for simple candelabra for the tables, and sage green and gold ribbons for the napkins.

We did all the table numbering, menus and place cards ourselves with touches of green and gold, and that was literally the extent to our decorations.

Instead of favours we made a donation to cancer research in memory of my mum and Joe's dad who we had both lost to cancer. We made little cards to tell people we had done this instead of favours and it was surprising how many people commented on how lovely a gesture it was.

THE HONEYMOON | Kenya for safari & the Seychelles for some beach relaxing. The most amazing holiday ever!

MEMORABLE MOMENTS | My first sight of Joe as I walked down the aisle, I was determined not to cry (partly because of my make up :)) it's such an emotional day that there were a few tears however half way down the aisle I remember suddenly beaming with happiness looking at my handsome husband to be there waiting for me!

At the end of the grooms speech, Joe announced to everyone that I was 3 months pregnant. We had had our scan the day before & and we were able to announce officially. It was a lovely moment as everyone cheered & raised a toast to us.

ADVICE FOR OTHER COUPLES | We wanted to do our wedding our way. We spent our money on the things that are important for us. I would say think about the things that mean the most to you at a wedding and concentrate on those things. Also take 10 minutes to have sometime to yourselves during the day. Everyone says it, but you need to take a moment, step back from it all and watch all your friends and family being in one place all for your wedding day.
