The Colour Clash Issue: The Beauty

Afternoon readers! If you're loving our Colour Clash Issue so far, then stick around! This afternoon our b.team beauties Ana and Kasia are sharing all the details you need for recreating those statement hair & make up looks!

Over to you, Ana!

Ask any make up artist what they love about their job and I can guarantee that right at the top of the list is that they get to play with colour! So how excited was I when Pantone announced the colour for 2014 was Radiant Orchid! Why? I want to show my brides that they can think out of the box and be on trend without it looking scary or garish......I totally understand that the thought of a purple eyeshadow can scare the life out of most women on a day to day basis - let alone on their wedding day - but I'm here to demonstrate that you can inject a bit of colour to your bridal make up and still have it look beautiful, sophisticated and a little bit different. I took inspiration from the catwalk to create an aisle-worthy look...

For our bride, I decided that the focus should be the lips -tying in with the jewel-toned necklace and contrasting the sleek lines of the dress and hair. I used a vibrant fuchsia pink lip colour outlined with a lip pencil and added a little gloss in a slightly paler lilac pink to the centre of the lip to add a little sheen and give the illusion of a fuller fleshier pout.

I opted for a little purple shadow over a soft grey pencil to outline the eyes and swept the line up a touch at the corners to work with the subtle lashes I used. This gave a very Audrey Hepburn slant to the eyes; very coquettish and slightly feline. The brows were kept soft yet full - no thin angles here as I wanted them to look natural yet defined. I filled in the gaps and brushed through with an eyebrow brush to soften any hard edges.

The lid I kept clean with the softest creamy beige eyeshadow used all over to keep the soft purple outline the lashes and the brows the focus on the eyes. I curled her lashes and reached for a waterproof mascara before applying false lashes to open up the eyes.

To complete the look I gave the complexion attention. It needed to look flawless yet not dewy, and at the same time I didn't want it totally powder matte. I used HD powder that gives a soft peachy style look to the skin not heavy at all and then added a soft pinky peach blush to add a subtle colour and warmth to this look without taking attention away from the lips.

Kasia created a classic beehive hairstyle to compliment to sweetheart cut of the dress and add a touch of retro romance, as worn by icons such as Bridget Bardot throughout the 60s. The side fringe adds soft elegance and a playful modern twist.

If vibrant lips are the feature on the bride, I chose a softer pink on the lips for the bridesmaids look - after all the bride is the star of the show! I used a purple cream eyeshadow and washed it all over the lid and pressed a little soft shimmer lilac shadow over the top to give a soft sheen so it isn't too much of a block colour. The blusher was a little more peach in tone to add warmth more than colour.

Kasia kept the bridemaid's hair loose and elegant with a slight quiff and loosely waved hair gently sweeping over her shoulder.

Ana's advice? Mix it up - both looks would look equally fab on brides or bridesmaids! If you love your eyes then play this up, or add personality with a bright lip colour, or for a real statement do both!

Here are some my favourite products used to create these make up looks, aren't they lush?! From Nars to Sleek Cosmetics, these are products that no matter what your budget when applied correctly can make you look a million dollars!

Top Row: Maybelline 24HR Colour Tattoo in 15 - Endless Purple // Max Factor Wild Shadow Pots in 15 - Vicious Purple // Sleek Lipstick Palette in Showgirl 857 Bottom Row: Nars Eyeshadow Duo in Violetta // Lord & Berry shining lipstick pencil in 20100 // Chantecaille Lipgloss in Framboise // Nars Satin Lip pencil in Luxembourg

So make up lovers, what are your wedding day colours going to be?
