Fun & Stylish Village Pub Wedding

Fun & Stylish Village Pub Wedding

via

Jeremy and Laura are one super stylish, fun loving couple who tied the knot at the Red Lion pub, North Yorkshire in the summer.

Laura looked effortlessly chic with her cropped hair and Jenny Packham Acacia headdress which accessorised her ethereal dress. While Jeremy wore a grey Reiss suit with tan Dolce & Gabbana shoes.

They wanted their day to be relaxed and informal with a touch of humour. There was bold stationery and super pretty blooms.

Thanks so much to the brilliant Stott + Atkinson Photography for sharing their photographs with us today.

The Proposal… I proposed on a hike in the dales, I’d booked a stay at the nearby Yorke Arms hotel and restaurant as a surprise.  It all went well apart from me forgetting to pack any make-up or toiletries for my future wife!!

The Vision for the Day… Fun, relaxed and informal. We wanted above all to have a great party that everyone would enjoy.  We wanted elements of humour and something that reflected our different backgrounds

The Planning Process… 8 months planning, we wanted somewhere rustic, we wanted to do as much of it ourselves and involve friends where possible.

Budget… Our budget was £15k for absolutely everything, We kept to it too!

The Venue… Red Lion, Burnsall, Fantastic pub set in heart of picturesque Dales village.

The Dress + Accessories… The dress was a prototype form Abbey Wedding Warehouse in Leeds and only cost £290!!  Plus £150 to alter and change the straps.  It was a real pain to alter as it was fully beaded.  My head band is Jenny Packham and I borrowed it 4 days before the wedding from one of the students I teach, it really set the outfit off.

Finding the Dress… I only went to a couple of places (some of the assistants we came across were pretty awful) and considered having it made, so went to Abbey Warehouse thinking I wouldn’t find anything and I was going on my own.  In the end my bridesmaid joined me thank god since I found the amazing dress at a bargain price.

Groom’s Attire… Suit from Reiss, Dolce Gabbana Shoes

The Readings + Music… Reading,  ”Foxtrot From a Play,” by W H Auden.  Lighthearted and very Yorkshire. Processional – Largo from New World, Dvorjak.  Again very Yorkshire We sang – Can’t Take My Eyes Off You – Frankie Valli. First Dance – Pull up to my Bumper, Grace Jones – less yorkshire.

Beautiful Bridesmaids… Marianne, Danielle & Carlie .  Flower girls Tilly and Zara.

The Flowers… From The Hedgerow Florist Threshfield…the very lovely Wendy and very lovely flowers.

The Cake… Made by a friend, a three tiered fruit cake which was made in advance due to her being heavily pregnant.

Your Photographer… The brilliant, Stott + Atkinson Photography (Tim + Paul).

The Details + Decor… I bought loads of stuff in the January sales from Dunelm and gift shops in Harrogate.  Not forgetting loads of stuff from TK Max and hours trawling the internet.  Our friend designed the stationery and another printed it all for us.

The Honeymoon… We spent a few days in the Highlands of Scotland in a remote cottage, walking and cycling, which was fantastic after all that chaos.  We plan to take a month off next year and go exploring around Vietnam and Cambodia.  That way we get to save up, spread the fun and take more time off from work!

Memorable Moments… My favourite moments were the ceremony sing song and my sisters set where people were fighting to get on the dance floor – all the parts we took a risk on but turned out just as I hoped

Advice for Other Couples… Don’t chicken out, make it the day you want to have.
