Morning ladies!  I’m so thrilled to introduce you to Matt + Lena Photography today.  This fine art photography duo, hailing from the UK & Canada respectively, are now based in the Algarve, Portugal and specialise in photographing local and destination weddings in the stunning surroundings they are proud to call home.  These two are not just talented photographers, but are as equally photogenic – it was Matt & Lena featured in Piteira Photography’s styled shoot I shared last week!  Today I’m sharing one of their most recent shoots, capturing newly engaged Raquel & Rik’s love in the glowing golden sunlight of a beach sunset.

Raquel shares their sweet story ~

We went away for a romantic weekend in the Rio Douro, in the north of Portugal.  At the top of a hill, with a beautiful view across the vineyards, Rik told me he had a gift for me.  He gave me a pair of homemade binoculars, that he claimed allowed the stars to be viewed during the day.  I was intrigued!  When I tried them out, sure enough I saw stars that spelt out ‘Be My Wife’!  When I looked away there was Rik on one knee asking me to marry him!  I was so surprised, and of course accepted!  We celebrated with champagne at Quinta, over looking the Rio Douro.

We’re planning a small Autumn wedding in Tavira, a beautiful and picturesque town on the south coast of Portugal.  We will be having an outdoor ceremony in the garden followed by a trip to the beach for some fun in the sun, and a restaurant reception in the evening.
