Contour and highlight: they’re the two words on the tip of every beauty editor’s tongue right now, and here at MDC we are definitely drinking the shape-your-face Kool-Aid. Recently, Professional makeup artist Virginia Linzee gave us her tips on how to flatter your face shape by contouring and highlighting, and during our chat she mentioned that one of the most universally flattering places to highlight was not the face, but the collarbone! Intrigued, we followed up with Linzee on exactly how to highlight your neckline like a pro.

How to Highlight Your Neckline

1. “Use a matte powder, bronzer, or cream that is 2-3 shades darker than your skin tone to blend under and over the collarbone where it dips in. Blend until any lines disappear.

MDC Recommends: Too Faced Milk Chocolate Soleil Matte Bronzer; Lancôme Star Bronzer Long Lasting Bronzing Powder; Urban Decay Baked Bronzer

2. Highlight the part of your collarbone that sticks out with a highlighting cream or powder that is a shade or two lighter than your skin tone and catches the light.

MDC Recommends: Edward Bess All Over Seduction; Benefit Watt’s Up!; L’Oréal Magic Lumi Highlighter

3. Lastly, I like to highlight the shoulders if you're going sleeveless as well,” Linzee says.
