When it came time to propose to Marie-Joëlle, Geoff knew it had to be somewhere special. He decided on Big Sur, California, Marie-Joëlle's favourite place in the world. "I was not expecting anything, I seriously thought we were only going on a hike!" Marie-Joëlle reveals. "Needless to say, this was the biggest surprise of my life!"

The couple's venues highlighted the beauty of Québec City, and truly wowed their guests, many of whom had come from the United States. "Many of them couldn't believe how beautiful Québec was, especially the picturesque views," Marie-Joëlle shares. "The wedding register at the church goes back to the 1600s-it's so rich in history and romance."

Wanting to showcase the beauty of the venues, the couple kept their decor simple and elegant. "White and gold feel both classic and glamorous, so those were our colours," Marie-Joëlle explains. "The white flowers and gold chairs helped to create a romantic atmosphere while showcasing our colour scheme."

The highlight of the evening was the Motown band, Dave Brown and the Versatiles. "We discovered them at a wedding in New York City and fell in love with them," Marie-Joëlle reveals. "We decided to fly all eight musicians to Québec City-an ambitious endeavour, but so worth it!"
