For over a century, famed French High Jewelry Maison Van Cleef & Arpels has dazzled the world with its unique designs, exceptional stones and virtuoso craftsmanship. A worldwide reference for its distinctive jewelry and poetic timepieces, the Maison continues to resonate with royal families, cinema personalities and clientele of discerning taste around the world.

Founded in 1906 in Paris' Place Vendôme by Alfred Van Cleef and his brother-in-law Charles Arpels, VCA added a stunning line of fragrances to its repertoire in 1976 with a scent fittingly titled First.

In a nice bit of timing-2016 marks the maison's 110th anniversary-VCA is introducing new creations to one of its most iconic collections, Perlée.

The newest additions to the prestigious grouping combine hard stones and diamonds in pendants, between-the-finger rings, and studs, while staying true to the cheerful and feminine elements that make the collection unique.

First introduced in 2008, Perlée centers on delicate golden beads, a VCA hallmark since the 1920s. Following the discovery of Tutankhamen's tomb in 1922, Egyptian-inspired pieces came to style, and the house introduced the thin thread of metal grains that outlines the motifs of certain jewels.

In the late 1940s, gold beads started to appear throughout numerous VCA collections. Front and center in the Couscous collection, inspired by an Arpels' family trip to Morocco, they adorned yellow gold necklaces, earrings, bracelets, and watches. The gold bead aesthetic continued into the '60s and the following decades, culminating in the launch of Perlée in the late 2000s.

In the years since, VCA has continually reinvented Perlée through each new collection: Perlée pearls of gold, Perlée couleurs, Perlée diamonds, Perlée signature, and Perlée clovers.
