When Rob took Alexandra on a weekend trip to New York City for her 26th birthday, he made it his mission to surprise her with a different fun-filled itinerary each day. But the biggest surprise of all didn't come until the end of the trip, when Rob got down on one knee to pop the question! "We were heading down the High Line towards the Standard Hotel for drinks when Rob stopped for a picture, and instead, dropped on one knee to propose! It was a beautiful night in a beautiful city," Alexandra remembers.

For their wedding, the couple chose another one of their favourite destinations as the inspiration behind the decor: Tuscany. "We wanted our guests to feel like they were transported to a whole new place that truly reflected us. Neither of us are Italian, but we both love the Italian al fresco dining culture and all the food, drinks and laughter that comes with it!" Alexandra explains. To achieve their vision, the couple filled their rustic church venue with long harvest-style tables and plenty of herbs, greenery, flowers and twinkle lights. "We wanted it to feel like a big family dinner instead of a formal wedding," she adds.

The herbs at each table were one of Alexandra's favourite decor details. "Everyone loved the herbs, which doubled as favours for the guests as well as an aspect of the decor," she explains. "My mom planted all of them herself leading up to the wedding. They made the room smell amazing, and they really added so much to the vibe of the night," Alexandra says.

Alexandra and Robert agree that their ceremony was the most poignant part of their wedding day, especially the reciting of their vows. "Rob and I wrote our joint vows together, and said them to each other in front of our friends and family," says Alexandra. "We got so many compliments on them later, and have them saved to frame in our future home together," she adds. "They were the perfect combination of tradition, modernity and us!"
