Iranian-Inspired Wedding in the French Countryside

Iranian-Inspired Wedding in the French Countryside

via

Oh boy, are we thrilled to share this wedding with you today! There are so many DIY elements + charming details that we can't wait to show you!! First, let's set the stage: Her name is Puyan and she's half German, half Iranian. His name is Paul, he's French, and was living in Germany when he met Puyan. To celebrate their respective heritages, they decided to have two religious ceremonies: a Christian one in a church, and a traditional Iranian ceremony outside... All in the French countryside (Périgord region, to be exact - which is kind of close to Bordeaux)! Their friends and family flew in from all over the world and they celebrated in an old stone mansion (that looks like a castle), with a copious amount of candles, lots of French wine and tons of laughter.

The couple shares We are both extremely creative; Paul is an illustrator and I am a stage designer + wedding dress maker. We started to plan our wedding like we start to plan a stage or a book. Paul is very connected to the landscape of his home country and we found this incredible place in the middle of the French countryside. We wanted to have natural décor that complemented the rustic nature and highlighted the beautiful environment... And we also wanted to celebrate the different cultures that we come from: French, German + Iranian. So we kind of mixed a bunch of different elements and even brought in two cooks and a singer from Germany!

Ready to see all the fun festivities captured by destination wedding photographer, Jérémy Boyer? Let's look!

The bride, Puyan designs bespoke wedding dresses for a living... So it's no surprise that she donned such a spectacular piece! She tells us My maid of honor helped me create my dream wedding dress - we were collecting little lace flowers for over a month and then hand dyed them one after another in the kitchen. It was such a mess but so much fun!

SO, so gorgeous!!

Agnès Laye Fleurs crafted all the gorgeous florals + centerpieces. We love their antique + rustic look!

The little ring bearer is too cute!

Processional: We've Got a Good Thing Going by Michael Jackson (performed by Carmen Brown)

Recessional: Say a Little Prayer by Aretha Franklin (performed by Carmen Brown)

First Dance: Silly Lovesong by The Wings

So much joy!!

Paul: The feeling of walking into the church was indescribable... And having an Iranian ceremony was so magical, each moment felt like pure poetry. Additionally, the moment that we discovered that the vintage Fiat 600 (from 1964) was a gift from Puyan's parents, we flipped! It's difficult to pinpoint just one moment because whenever I'm with Puyan, it's magic.

Puyan: I was overwhelmed by all of our amazing friends and family who made a very long trip to celebrate with us. Paul and I lived in different cities and we had friends from all over the world coming to our wedding and it was absolutely heart-warming to see them dancing and becoming friends on our wedding day!

Puyan + her father prepared their take on traditional Persian decoration for the ceremony.

Paul designed the fabric from the kid's clothing and Puyan stitched it to create these adorable garments!

The sweetest!!

Puyan shares I dreamed about having an vintage ice cream bike at our wedding - which turned out to be very hard to find. So my father, who is also an artist, built one with the help of a friend! It was absolutely worth it, the children went crazy about the ice cream. Paul added to it by creating little ice cream cups and napkins with our logo on them!

Dried flowers were used to indicate which table each guest was sitting at (the corresponding flower was then framed on the respective table).

So much rustic goodness!

Can this be our table at every meal?

Adorable!

Ask yourself if you really want to make it a big party and know that it is a ton of work - but if that's what you want, it is so worth it! Additionally, if you're getting married in another country there are many more things to think about... Lastly, don't forget to enjoy all that you have created!! The day flies by... So make sure you have a great photographer!

Puyan + Paul, you two are absolutely darling!! A huge congrats to the both of you and thank you for sharing your dreamy day with us.
