Matthew and Laurie first met in Sydney, Australia while she was visiting on holidays. "Matt is a musician and I just so happened to be staying in a shared house with one of the band members," Laurie explains.

Matthew eventually proposed in Melbourne where the couple was celebrating his birthday. "It was pouring rain and we were out walking and came to a bridge. I turned around and he was on one knee holding the ring. My umbrella turned inside out and blew away in the wind and passersby clapped for us," Laurie says. "I nodded yes, and we ducked into a nearby bar to pop a bottle of champagne and call our families."

For their big day, Laurie was inspired by the romance of years gone by. "I wanted our wedding to be like something out of a Jane Austen novel. I'm not a very traditional girl, but I love the Regency and Victorian eras," she explains. Langdon Hall in Cambridge, Ontario was the perfect venue to fit with their historical theme. "It was very in tune with our overall vision and the beautiful gardens made the perfect backdrop for photos. Following the ceremony, we had our reception at Whistle Bear Golf Club, which complemented our classic style," Laurie says.

Laurie says the entire day was perfect from beginning to end. "In the days leading up to your wedding, everyone tells you it's going to be the best day of your life...and they're exactly right. It's this incredible experience where all the stars align, your loved ones all come together, your emotions float just below the surface and everything is truly perfect," she says.
