Ellen and Michael's wedding day at Crooked Willow Farms in Colorado is bright, punchy and totally adorable. A bold red barn sets the scene and the celebration planned by Revel & Bloom is rustic and speckled with colorful details. Out faves are the groomsmen in aqua gingham and giant bubblegum pink garden roses in the florals by Posies & Poms. Jenna Nicole Photography was the girl behind the lens and she absolutely captured the all the pure delight of this adorable couple and their big day.

What made the wedding special and unique?

What made our wedding special and unique is how we were able to have a close friend be our officiant. We are Christian but couldn't agree on which childhood pastor would do it. We asked ourselves why not have someone who knows us both personally and loves the Lord do it? We felt that the ceremony ended up being extremely personal and exactly what we wanted.

Tell us about the gown and where/how you found it!

The gown I wore is from Atlas Bridal in Toledo. I hadn't even heard of it until my cousin told me to look there after she had purchased hers there. My stylist was great and pulled dresses that were all beautiful. My mom and my grandma went with me thinking it would be a trip lasting a couple hours. The dress I picked was the fourth dress I tried on and stopped there. It was perfect.

What were some touches added to make the wedding personal?

Some of the touches we put on our wedding really made it personal. One was that my grandparents were the flower girls and ring bearers. I wanted them to have a part in our wedding and they loved it. Another touch was the cake. My mom and my aunt made it and it was beautiful. They worked in their parents bakery growing up, so they had a lot of experience.

What was the most memorable part of the day?

The most memorable part of the day was saying our own vows to each other. Michael and I wrote our own, so it was extremely special and personal.

Tell us how you met and became engaged.

Michael and I met freshman year of college at the new student retreat that happens the second week of school. We met on the sand volleyball courts and a few days later discovered we were in the same American History class. We started dating in December of 2012 and got engaged the summer of 2015. I was living in Ohio that summer and Michael was still in Colorado and I flew back to go to a few weddings. On the trip to Aspen from Denver we had stopped to use the bathroom and Michael ended up throwing up! I thought that he was sick and that the whole trip I would be taking care of him. He said it was just because he had too much caffeine. Luckily, I found out later that it was just because he was nervous. After that little stop we stopped at this little camp ground we went to before. We hiked a little to this place called the Grottos. The Grottos has huge boulders with a beautiful waterfall. Michael got on one knee and popped the question. It was absolutely perfect.
