"The Jimmy Choo woman is not singular or static being; she is a dynamic, confident, playful force to be reckoned with."

Those same adjectives-which came from creative director Sandra Choi-can also be used to describe icon Mary J Blige and models Amber Valletta, Xiao Wen Ju, Milla Jovovich,s and Sasha Pivovarova, all of whom and more were on hand on Thursday night in the Meat Packing District to kick off Fashion Week and celebrate Jimmy Choo's current collectionand their 20th anniversary music video.

We talked to Choi in advance of the party about the fall styles on offer now, and about her vision for the next twenty years. Oh, and we caught all the beauties in action, and we got access to the video to share with you, too.

Jimmy Choo party vibes The video premiere The Thread: Your brand new video includes such a gorgeous variety of women; talk to us about your inclusive point of view. Why was it so important for you to feature women from different cultures and age groups?

The video is a reflection of who the modern Jimmy Choo woman is today and it was important to have a global representation both in terms of age and cultures. The essence of the Jimmy Choo woman is an innate confidence and I couldn't think of a better cast to represent this. It is also about the dynamism of the brand. We are celebrating our 20 th anniversary and the brand has evolved so much, so to represent this with one woman would be reductive and impossible.

Model Amber Valletta and guests Model Sasha Pivovarova Model Aline Weber Model Lexi Boling How does this idea of global, ageless beauty connect with your current collection?

Seasons and styles are created with the idea that they must comply with and complement the many roles a woman takes on every day. In the AW16 collection there are a lot of military details within the collection and I think for me the idea behind this was a strong army of women and the sense of female empowerment that comes with being a united force.

Nordstrom Signature collaborator Caroline Issa and me How and why does that idea resonate with you in general? Who are the most beautiful women in your life and how have you learned to understand their beauty in terms of their diverse life experiences and viewpoints?

I have two young daughters and it is so important to me to impart my knowledge of how strong and capable women are and how everyone should be admired. I want to instill them with self-confidence as for me this is what beauty is about and the key value behind the brand.

In my role I come into contact with so many impressive women. It would be impossible to boil it down to just a few, but for me beauty comes from women who are confident, funny and intelligent. I design with these principles in mind.
