If you caught our recent feature sharing the fun barn dinner from the Love & Splendor workshop, you're probably in the know about this lovely event which took place recently at Greengate Ranch and Vineyard in San Luis Obispo, California. The rich design of the al fresco feast is guaranteed to inspire those of you planning an outdoor wedding or celebratory dinner of your own. So don't forget to take a few notes, and pin a few pins!

Angel, of Love & Splendor, shares, For another dinner at the 2015 Love & Splendor Workshop, we embraced an equestrian estate look as a nod to our host venue. The palette included rich crimson, deep oxblood, burnished metallics (including pewter and bronze) and warm neutrals like champagne and taupe. Found Vintage Rentals created the perfect setting with our long farm feasting table, bentwood chairs, and of course, cozy furniture vignettes in sumptuous leather and velvet. Southwestern-style rugs and pillows accented the soft seating areas. The look was decidedly inspired by the California west, but retained a refined feel.

Antique silver trays from Casa de Perrin anchored large floral centerpieces by Wilder Floral Co., each overflowing with dahlias, ruby and champagne roses, anemones, amaranthus and black scabiosa. Amber bud vases dotted between the larger pieces. The placesettings were comprised of Casa de Perrin's pewter glass chargers, white signature collection china, cut crystal glassware and rose gold flatware. The heavy square napkin rings from Theoni Collection added the perfect masculine touch to each setting.

Such pretty calligraphy by Anne Robin!

Beneath the twinkle of market lights, we feasted on Trumpet Vine Catering's take on Santa Maria style BBQ, a cuisine unique to the central coast of California. We started with tray passed appetizers like chilled cucumber soup shooters with margarita grilled shrimp and jalapeño oil, and BLT flatbreads with bacon jam, gorgonzola, chopped tomato and pesto. The family style dinner included a California caesar salad with cotija cheese and fresh avocado, a dry rubbed and hickory-smoked brisket, sweet and spicy slaw, gaucho beans, Mary's Organic buttermilk fried chicken, four cheese macaroni (gouda, white cheddar, fontina and gruyere) with caramelized leeks, and plenty of San Luis grilled sourdough bread.

Yummy desserts were provided by Sugar Lips Mini Donuts + Sweet and Saucy Shop.
