Pretty & Fresh Floral Filled Summer Barn Wedding - Whimsical...

Hip hip hooray it's Friday. And let's celebrate with a floral filled pretty wedding extravaganza.

Mike and Claire tied the knot on a glorious summers day and hoped for a chilled and fun wedding day.

I love all of the lush white blooms. The Daisies, Gypsophila and Stocks look so pretty alongside the floral bridesmaid frocks. Then there were the fab tea towel wedding invitations, stylish stationery and woodsy log slices.

Claire donned a Maggie Sottero gown with statement Valentino necklace gifted by Mike on the wedding morning. WOW.

Thanks so much to Nicki Feltham for providing the happy images.

THE PROPOSAL | NYE, midnight, in the middle of a very busy wine bar!

THE VISION | Totally chilled and totally relaxed!! No uncomfortable suits and two-piece dress outfits. We wanted people to come and have fun and just enjoy the day.

THE PLANNING PROCESS | We loved planning our wedding. Like every wedding I'm sure there were slightly more stressy moments (Mike deciding that he really must go suit shopping for him, his two Best Men and three Ushers, 9 days before the wedding is the main one that springs to mind!) But it was a lot of fun, we certainly made the most of it and it was a good excuse to do stuff.... "oh we have to go to Brighton to meet our photographer... lets get a group together and make a weekend out of it!"

THE VENUE | Gaynes Park.. first and last venue we saw. Just loved it.

THE DRESS & ACCESSORIES | My dress was from a beautiful little shop in Sawbridgeworth called Mariposa and is Maggie Sottero. My little blue brooch is vintage and was a gift from my bridesmaids and for my hair I had an Anais Lace headpiece by Nicola Wellard. Lastly my necklace was Valentino and was a gift from my husband on the morning of out wedding.

FINDING THE DRESS | It didn't take too long actually, which I was quite surprised about. After one very scary experience where we went to a shop which had a communal viewing area and I ended up getting the opinions of not only my Mum and Sister but also the ten other family members who were their to help daughter/sister/friend pick a dress, we found my dress at a beautiful little Boutique Bridal shop in Sawbridgeworth..

GROOM'S ATTIRE | Erm.. 10 days before the wedding, need I say anymore!? No, in all honesty Mike loved his suit and was exactly as he had wanted it, navy fitted Marks and Spencer suit which was part of the M&S Savile Row Inspired collection... he looked sharp.

THE READINGS & MUSIC | A friends of ours played guitar and sang throughout the ceremony and the day, so was really lovely. I walked down the garden aisle to 'Wonderwall' and we left to an acoustic version of Rihanna's 'We Found Love'.

Mike's Mum Margaret read a beautiful poem called The One and our friend Kate wrote a hilarious reading that she has personalised to us and our family and friends.

BEAUTIFUL BRIDESMAIDS | I LOVED my bridesmaid dresses. They came from China so we were a little worried about what would turn up, but when they arrived they were absolutely amazing and we all fell in love with them...

THE FLOWERS | Some really lovely friends ours of did our flowers. We had asked them to keep them simple and white and we really liked the idea of natural, wild flowers with lace and hessian wraps. As the bridesmaid dresses we so detailed in terms of design, we figured simplicity with the flowers was what was going to work here!

THE CAKE | A good friend I used to work with had started her own cupcake making business, 'Crumbs', and after trying some she had made for samples... she was the only person we were ever going to ask!! We were her first Wedding and she absolutely pulled all the stops out... I'd say we had more of a collection of cakes as opposed to one, ranging from vanilla with chocolate icing, to chocolate with vanilla icing and even a Victoria sponge. The cakes combined were too heavy to lift onto the dance floor for the cutting of the cake part so we ended up just doing it with one of the smaller ones! Anyway, all of which were absolutely delicious and I'm pleased to say we were still eating the cake after we came back from the honeymoon.

YOUR PHOTOGRAPHER | Our photographer Nicki was absolutely fantastic. She was recommended through the Gaynes Park website and we couldn't have picked a more brilliant person to capture our day, she felt more like a guest who was just taking a lot of photos! From the start we explained to Nicki about the relaxed nature of the day and how we wanted to try and stay away from formality... she understand completely and consequently we ended up with exactly the type of photos we wanted. She even managed to deal with some slightly intoxicated ushers trying to expose a little more that what was essential for a wedding album...!

THE DETAILS & DÉCOR | The details were really important to Mike and I as they were our chance to really personalise things. The majority of the glass jars were collected over a year, thankfully two of our close friends had just had a baby so we were round at their house collecting baby food jars on a weekly basis. All of the centrepiece glass bottles Mike had found at work, which was also the case for the amazing old wooden ladder which we used for our table plan. For us, one of the most special items was the suitcase that we used to collect our cards in, this was Mike's Granddad's who had passed away a few years before. We discovered it at his Granny's house when she was moving, we instantly fell in love with it and knew we wanted to incorporate it in our day.

THE HONEYMOON | We booked our honeymoon the day after our wedding and flew out to Ibiza the day after that. What a week... it was a lot of fun! We had so much going on before the wedding that we just didn't have a chance to get anything planned. By the time we really started to think about it we just thought... sod it, we'll just wait and see if we can do something last minute... it was quite exciting really and totally worked out for the best.

MEMORABLE MOMENTS | The Bongos!!!! We had a great band and also hired a DJ for the after party bit. Whilst we were booking the DJ, he also informed us that he knew someone who played the bongos... we were sold instantly. The guy was so much fun.

ADVICE FOR OTHER COUPLES | Totally just go with the flow... it will all be all right on the night!
