Classic Summer Wedding in South of France

Welcome to the weekend! You might think that when it comes to planning your summer wedding in South of France, having family local and being brought up in the area would have been an advantage - but today's couple Emma and Luke share their story of getting married in the South of France.

Emma and Luke's classic wedding style, embellished with romantic touches creates a clean and timeless wedding theme that would be transferable across many venues. .

Bride Emma takes us through their big day: " My husband, Luke, and I are both English but moved to the South of France (specifically the Riviera) with our respective families at about the age of ten and met in church there. Since then we both have spent some years studying in the UK but decided we wanted to get married back home, in the place where we met, fell in love and where our immediate families still lived.

Our wedding was held on the 29th August, in Roquefort les Pins, followed by Mougins. We had some absolutely fabulous local suppliers. Over the 14 months engagement we had, I used French Wedding Style frequently as inspiration for my wedding. It was such a help and a joy to read through. We planned it all ourselves and, due to the difficulty of finding suppliers at times, we had to take on a lot of the duties ourselves too. We had so many family and friends flying in from abroad that we needed somewhere local to where everyone would be staying and, after visiting many beautiful locations in the region trying to find somewhere that suited our needs, we finally decided on a ceremony at home, in our garden, followed by a vin d'honneur with all the guests, and then held our evening reception at the Golfe de Mougins. We catered the vin d'honneur ourselves and served bread with special olive oil, cheeses, seasonal fresh vegetables, etc.

We really experienced the difficulty of "foreigners" getting married in France, even though we spoke French and had lived there most of our lives. But it was such a wonderful and magical place to get married, we wouldn't have changed a bit. "
