Sunflower Wedding Bouquets & Centerpieces

The go-to flower for rustic weddings, the mighty sunflower has it all: sturdy petals, bright color, and instant charm. These sunflower wedding bouquets and centerpiece details will fit right in with your summery, traditional affair. And because sunflowers are such a large bloom, they can also be really cost-effective when trying to fill in large arrangements. Pretty and budget-friendly? It's the perfect package.

Vivid yellow sunflowers really pop against classic colors like navy blue (above). Have your bridal party carry all sunflower bouquets, and then mix in some white roses or hydrangea with yours to make it unique and special. Below, this bride was gaga for yellow, so it made sense that sunshine colored petals rained over her and her fella's exit from the chapel as she carried a full sunflower bouquet.

Even if you adore sunflowers, you may not want a whole bouquet composed of them. Mix it up depending upon what color statement you want your bouquet to make. If you really want to draw attention to the sunflowers, use white roses and gerbera daisies that will fade in the background against the sunflower's colorful petals (above, left). If you want the sunflowers to blend in, use shades of white, orange, and blue to create a sweet bouquet, but also one that doesn't emphasize the yellow (above, right).

Brides wanting to incorporate a bit of gold into their jewel tone-chic bridal bouquet, need look no further than warm-toned sunflowers. It adds a bit of brightness to the dark and moody arrangement of flowers, without distracting from it.

Vintage brides will love mixing in shades of gray to blend with their muted color palette. Use pale sage-hued succulents and dusty miller to create subtle layers of neutral colors with creamy roses and button mums (below).

Don't load flower girls down with a huge basket of petals! Instead, opt to give them a single sunflower wrapped in a ribbon to allow them to gracefully walk down the aisle.

Sunflowers can also brighten up your reception centerpieces. Below, this mountain-themed rustic event used sunflowers in wood planter boxes to decorate their tables.

This simple centerpiece below proves just how much color sunflowers inject into your details. On a white tablecloth this simple arrangement in a Mason jar gives a fantastic pop of yellow.

For woodsy weddings, use sunflowers in a forest-themed tablescape. Below (left), this wedding mainly uses three flowers in its centerpieces: sunflowers, hydrangea, and white roses. With the addition of moss-covered votives and black lanterns, the whole effect looks a bit wild and untamed, like a secret garden.

Vintage lovers can highlight their sunflowers by finding interesting antique containers, like this blue watering can below (right).

We knew sunflowers were sweet, but we didn't know they could be so delicious! This sunflower laden wedding even has a cake decorated with burlap ribbon and sugar sunflowers. Yum!
