A Chic City Wedding At The Bloomsbury Ballroom.

A Chic City Wedding At The Bloomsbury Ballroom.

Simple yet chic is how I would describe Sarah and Tim's elegant London wedding. And with a venue as beautiful as The Bloomsbury Ballroom - I can see exactly why the pair kept things low key decor wise.

White roses, giant round bubbles of gypsophila and candles were all it needed to make the venue look beautiful.

Sarah is a girl after my own heart with two gowns, as well as a simple gypsophila circlet for the reception. I love the addition of a grey sash on her gown too, it compliments her lovely grey suede Emmy shoes perfectly.

I also love the amount of stunning couple shots that Eddie Judd has captured - Sarah and Tim are clearly a couple who make each other laugh, their love and chemistry really shines in these images, as you'll see.

Sarah The Bride:We just wanted to be married so we decided on a short engagement, organising the wedding in less than six months. It was fun, easy; you just have to be decisive!!

I chose Mirror Mirror because it is local to where my parents live. The two dresses came about by accident - the tulle dress was a one-off sample too beautiful to leave behind on the first dress fitting. It worked because such a grand church needed a dramatic dress and the tulle dress was it.

For the evening, lit by candles, the venue felt intimate and needed something more form-fitting that I could dance in, the layered French lace dress was perfect. Tim is tall so luckily I could wear any heel height I wanted. Emmy's had the perfect grey suede that season so it was an easy yes! I have worn the shoes a lot since (without the gorgeous beaded flower), they are so comfortable!

The Grooms suit was tailor-made at Dunhill, a beautiful grey three piece with a handmade white shirt. They even had a green fabric lining to match the ties and colour scheme! It was important that Tim be comfortable on the day and have something he could treasure and wear again. We wanted to use Dunhill as they have such a strong London brand, traditional British with a modern edge. It fitted the wedding perfectly.

The Bloomsbury Ballroom was the first venue we visited and we both knew that this was the place for us. Most venues we saw were listed buildings and had stringent rules about candles, confetti, table layout and menu choices. No other venue was as relaxed and helpful as Bloomsbury. It was also just ten minutes from Temple Church making for speedy transfers! The venue worked with The Perfect Wedding Company to perfect our canapé, menu and cocktail choices.

I have always lived in London and most of our early dates were here so we wanted the City to be a big part of our day, hence using the London skyline in our bespoke stationery motif which had an Art Deco edge to reflect the venue.

There is always so much emphasis on the bride and it was really important to us that it was as much about the Groom, so we went for a muted, non-gender specific colour palette. The cream and grey with green touches fitted the simple, chic look we were after.

We wanted white flowers, but in early spring choices are limited. As it was an indoor, winter wedding the flowers needed to soften the edges so we used clouds of Gypsophila, echoed in the buttonholes, bridesmaids bouquet and brides circlet. My bouquet was Thistle and Roses and Tim had a matching Thistle buttonhole as a nod to our Scottish heritage.

As we had trestle tables we needed a lot of flowers. To maintain the simple clean look we chose domes of Amaryllis interspersed with candles for the guest tables with a sweeping long and low hydrangea and rose display for the head table.

I only wanted one bridesmaid. She is from New York and was just flying in for the weekend of the wedding so we needed a dress that would fit with minimum fuss, Two Birds is perfect. It also meant Erica could change her dress for the evening, just like the bride!

It was important for us to have a traditional service. Our bible reading was the same one read at every wedding in the Grooms family. Temple Church had just had a new organ; we made full use of that and their choir!

We first saw Kai's Cats in Ronnie Scotts, she sings the songs we love, we knew she was perfect. Only Kai could do Mama Cass justice - "It's Getting Better"!

As it was a February wedding we wanted warming, hearty fare so we chose hot canapés with cocktails, followed by a sit down dinner comprising of soup and Toad in the Hole. There was also a trio of lemon desserts, followed by lots of cake.

We didn't want a formal wedding. We wanted a fun, light hearted, love filled celebration which we feel Eddie captured. She is so unobtrusive yet somehow must have been there as she has left us with the most incredible record of our perfect day.

Thanks Dad for the fabulous car...Mum in lilac, you looked beautiful...Mum in cream, you looked beautiful. Tom, thanks for getting Tim to the church! Erica, thanks for flying 3459 miles. Thanks John for stepping in, Mike - "the professional usher!"

James - great ushering and brothering. Ron - a London wedding needed a black cabbie! And Jess, for making the Bride look beautiful...xx
